Did you do The Open last year? If so, did you have any kind of PR’s or try anything new? I did not compete last year. I joined CrossFit February 2017 during the Open. Last year I came to watch when I wasn’t in the office working and I was very motivated watching my friends compete. During that event I told my work I would be modifying my work schedule so I can have more time in the gym with a goal of competing this year….well this year is here so it is time to do this.

Why are you doing it this year? I have been motivated seeing my friends grow and advance in CrossFit and I love watching the Games and seeing the strength and challenges that a body can overcome. Being able to participate gives me so much more gratitude and appreciation to those CrossFit Elite women who kick ass. I also want to see what my body is capable of under pressure and use this as my baseline to set my goals for the year. I love being able to look back and see how far I have come and recording the Open is a good way to track progress.

What is your approach? Do you have any particular goals or are you doing it just for fun – or a mix of both? It will be a mix of both. Obviously, it is incredible fun being with the team on Friday night and watching everyone push their limits. It will also be fun to strategize and figure out if one just sticks to scaled through the Open or challenge with some RX movements.

Anything else? To say I am nervous would be an understatement. I want to be able to see how far I can push myself without injury and still be able to work the next day. Unfortunately, there will be some Fridays that I work 3 12’s before and 2 12’s after so that will not be the best work week and I am hoping the work outs are in my favor those days so I can still manage to stand and see patients 🙂 . Overall, I think it will be a fun time and it is a great time to be with community. Embracing the suck together.
